It’s funny

It’s funny how we plan our days, and then never get nearly anything done that we had wanted to get done… funny in a ‘that’s really crap’ kind of way, that is.
I rarely finish any of my knitted projects, I get so far in them and then realise I’ve done something wrong, and usually end up frogging it and giving it up. This has happened so many times, it makes me feel like such a crap knitter. I’ve very few finished projects, considering I’ve been knitting for five years. I mean sure, I’ve got three finished beanies, a finished hood, three scarves, a pair of fingerless gloves, a hot water bottle cover, and a knitted felted nest. I’ve probably knit other stuff, but for five years, that’s really not much.
At the moment, my biggest knitting hold-up is sheer lack of time. I’m always busy with something, work, Uni, spending time with my fiancé, cooking, food shopping, etc, so that by the time I have a chance to sit down and knit, I’m too tired to do much except just hang out with my fiancé.
I really love spending time with him, watching movies or watching him play computer games, and I’m not that good at knitting without looking at it. Also, the project I’m knitting with a single strand of loosely plied yarn, which isn’t worsted – not multiple strands twisted together – but one strand of not-so-tightly spun yarn. It’s quite nice, a mix of 70% Wool and 30% Soybean. I’ve always liked this stuff, I really like working with natural fibres.
I think I really just spend too much time saying what I’m going to do… so, procrastinating, really. It’s a rather poor trait to get into, really, so I’m trying to do what I say I’m going to do, rather than put it off in lieu of puddling around doing nothing.
The pattern for this post is something that would actually work up pretty darn well with that yarn I’ve been working with. I’m making my neckwarmer in white, where as this pattern, the Bramblewood vest, I’d make in a nice grey, I think.
