I don’t know how to drive yet, but my fiancé and I would both like to learn sometime soon.

So, with Summer coming we’ve decided that this year we’re going to learn to drive. There’s never been much cause for us to learn, as public transport in this area is perfectly fine, but at some point we’d always intended to learn.

So, we started looking into how much it would cost for driving lessons and it’s a bit more than I’d hoped. I mean, sure you’re being taught a life long skill and all the rest of that, but wow, it sure is a lot. Apparently we’ve got to get insurance for it too, in case we crash the driving instructors car, I suppose. It’s also more than I would have hoped because, according to the driving instructor lady we were talking to, the amounts of fraudulent car insurance claims has raised the general amount of insurance.

Now I don’t want to be naive and just believe her, but upon checking it out she seems to be right, and that sucks. I always feel really frustrated when the greed of a few makes things more difficult for the many. But I do acknowledge that there is a strong need for claims for compensation for car accidents, it’s just irritating that some are misusing the system that’s meant to safeguard.

Now, let’s brush off that with a nice knitting pattern! I just saw this Minirock skirt, which is a cute little cabled miniskirt and had to link it here. Of course, the issue with this one is that whilst it’s a free pattern, you do have to sign up with the Rebecca knitting website to get the pattern. That’s free too, but it’s kind of irritating. It’s no different with Lion Brand or Berroco but still, irritating.

Gaaaah, I hate all this insurance stuff, now I’ve got to figure out which way to go about our home insurance…

Okay so here’s the go. I’ve decided that rather than just renewing any insurance that comes up, I’m going to actually research which company has the best deal for my fiancé and I. I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but our house insurance came up for renewal, and I was just about to go and pay the renewal fee when I realised that this deal probably wasn’t the best out there.

So I embarked on a crusade to find the best priced home insurance I could, but then I ran into a hitch. Not only was there a barrage of different deals and offers, there was also home and contents insurance, and then there was just contents insurance, as well as straight up home insurance, and there’s even building and contents home insurance!

I’m certain I don’t need that last one, because we live in a house already and aren’t building, but what I’m less certain of is when you are renting, do you need home insurance or just contents insurance? I got on the phone with a few different places, and it seems that when you call insurance companies, they may just be less than clear with you to get you to pay for more!

I talked to our landlord to see what he has covered, and it’s pretty clear that between his coverage, and our contents coverage, we’ve got everything covered, and now for about £50 less than last year!

Okay time for a knitting pattern. I have to say, I’ve always thought this Top Down Bonnet with Totoro is just adorable! I’ve never knit it up because it would be too small for my head, and I’ve not got any little people around, save two cats, but they get angry when I put stuff on their heads.
