I love to do it, check all the funny or cute blogs I keep track of. Especially the funny ones.

I of course love to check I Can Has Cheezburger, because all the cats are so damn cute! A lot of the captions are only so-so, but some are right on! I check nearly all their sites, I Has A Hotdog, Pundit Kitchen, Rofl Razzi, Fail Blog, and Engrish Funny. They are all good, to greater and lesser degrees, but I find the Pundit Kitchen and Fail Blog ones to have the better pictures. Pretty much any captioned picture of Kim Jong-Il is funny to me, that guy looks completely insane.

Blogs along the lines of those mentioned earlier include Item Not As Described, which is a site that pokes fun at the things people try to ’sell’ for free. These items are often in such an extreme state of disrepair that trying to get someone to take it is pretty much asking someone to come over and take out your rubbish for free. Lovely Listing is also funny, it pokes fun at terrible pictures of houses for rent or sale.

I really like the posts on The Junk Drawer, because they are funny and often easy to relate to. They are well written and something that’s always nice to sit down and read. Then there’s My Milk Toof, which is such a lovely photo blog by an artist. It depicts the adventures of two milk teeth, ickle and Lardee, and they are both entirely adorable. Lastly I like to check in on the Maru blog. He’s a Japanese cat of great rounded headedness, which is ironic because Maru is the Japanese word for circle.

Because my hands hurt from knitting, today’s pattern is something that will help with that. Well, sort of. A nice pair of wrist warmers called Lydia.

There is a cat that is regularly featured on Cute Overload that my fiancé and I think is perhaps the cutest cat around.

This cat is named Maru (which is the Japanese word for circle or round, very apt for this cat) and he has some pretty exceptional proportions. His head is nigh-on a perfect sphere, which is just right for cats. He is slightly fat, which is also just right for cats, and he seems to love to play. If you’re familiar with Maru, it is probably for his box-sliding. He seems to enjoy racing at boxes, then sliding them and himself across the floor. He has his own YouTube channel here, too.

As I said, he’s often on Cute Overload, and it was there that I found his website. It is a very pretty site, actually, and pretty easy to navigate in spite of being in Japanese. Keep an eye out for the loading icon in the top right corner, pretty cute! I would love a set of those awesome Japanese style gifs and emoticons, but can never find a really good lot.

Here’s a link to the website, where all of Maru’s pictures and videos seem to be shown. I love that the captions to the pictures are shown in English too, especially because it has this sort of Engrish flavour to it, sort of translated by Babel Fish sort of thing. Very funny!

Now for a knitting pattern! I’m a bit under the weather right now, fighting off a cold, I believe, so I think something a little snuggly is in order. I saw this Bonfire Briar pattern and instantly liked the cables and leaves. I love the thought of a pattern being called a ‘hug’. I would love to make my fiancé something called a hug, I think it’s a lovely idea.
