So tired! Ugh!

I do realise I complain an awful lot, but at the same time, that’s only because I experience a lot of discomfort! Today my joints are all still sore, and in spite of a big sleep, with an hour extra courtesy of my fiancé – thank you baby, love and kisses for you! – I’m still feeling like my big cloud bed is ‘the place to be’.

I’ve had a mild cold for… oh it must be at least a week, maybe two now, and it’s really wearing me down. Probably the last four nights in a row I’ve awoken to an asthma attack, which is a very upsetting and uncomfortable feeling. I think it probably hits around the same time as the coldest part of the night, that pre-dawn time when it’s just plain freezing! Our little house is quite snug and warm, but it does get cool over night, and Spring is still in it’s infancy really.

I suppose the nigh-on constant joint pain isn’t really helping either. It’s another aspect of the cold I’ve got, but it’s one of the worst. I’m not sick enough to justify staying in bed all day, but I also know that I’m just going to get worse until I end up that sick, and then I’ll spend a couple of days in bed, and finally start to get over this, but yeah, in the mean time, I’m very tender and lethargic.

I’ve not been knitting all that much, because I just don’t have the stamina, but that just leads me to think of small projects, like this very cute Ermer shrug. These little arm covers can be just the thing for many outfits. They really do make a nice difference, and really help with transitional seasons like Spring and Autumn. Right now I want to be swathed in a gigantic blanket, but when I’m feeling better I’m sure I could find myself wearing this.

I’d just gone to bed, just fallen asleep, and then some idiot pranks my house by calling my phone at 2:20am, and now I’m wide awake because of a few reasons.

1. The phone jolted me so badly, my heart is racing, because who really expects something loud and annoying – like the phone – to go off in the middle of the night? My stupid phone system is too loud, I’ve been thinking of swapping it for ages. But then, I’m not good with phones. My mobile phone came with a free Bluetooth headset, from what I understand, it’s actually an okay one, but I’ve never used it, and probably never will. I can’t even be bothered to read the instructions properly!

2. On top of the shock now I’m really annoyed about being woken up, too. I’d just gone to bed a short time before hand, just gotten really asleep, and then that annoying phone went off. Initially I was worried, who gets a call at that time of night? When I heard sniggering voices on the other end of the line, and then the age old stupid line of ‘Is your refrigerator running’ I slammed the phone down and that was that.

Oh well, now I’m up, I’m wandering around the interwebs generally lurking. I’ve got one of those broadband plans where you get the same amount of downloads you pay for again, between 1:00am and 6:00am. Being sick for me often leads to less than a stellar amount of sleep, because my asthma is worse at night anyway. Bah!

Okay now for a pattern! Because I’m still feeling the need to be snuggled in warmth, I like the idea of this poncho here, but not in that chenille yarn. I don’t like that stuff, for some reason. I’ve always wanted a nice hooded poncho, they just seem like such a great ‘throw on over the top’ kind of piece of clothing.

I mentioned recently that I’ve managed to catch a cold… well it sucks being sick!

I’m not entirely sure how I picked up this cold/flu thing, but I did get rained on a couple of times this week… that would account for a cold. I can’t remember if I’ve been around anyone whose sick, of late, so I don’t know if it’s a flu thing. I don’t know much when I get like this, I just feel yuck!

My fiancé’s being so lovely, too. He’s getting me my cough mixture and asthma pump and making sure I’m warm but not too warm. I love being taken care of in this fashion, though I’d still rather be healthy! My head feels like its in a vice, my throat is all scratchy and sore, I’m constantly sniffling, and sneezing and coughing with asthma. It sucks, I feel crappy and I don’t like it.

Even my visions being affected, though that could be because I should be in bed sleeping, rather than writing about how crappy I feel. Yeah, could be that. Probably is. I love short sentences. They’re kind of obnoxious. That’s fun. See. I’m being obnoxious. There’s nothing you can do about it. Ha! Suck it up! Deal with it! Lock it up! SUFFER FOOLS!!!

Okay, yeah, I’m sick, you can take all that with… well… a handful of salt. Yep, that’s right. Okay now for a knitting pattern! Really, the inclusions of patterns is just another excuse for me to go a-romping over to Ravelry!

Okay so for today I want to link to a pattern that has two distinct qualities. It needs to make me feel better, or at least the contemplation of having it, so that means blanket! It also has to be simple but nice. Simple in my mind means a quick knit, but nice means not boring. So… big needles for the win!!! Here’s a huge cable blanket!

I’m only half here. The other half of my brain is asleep, or trying to be. I bet I look like a hamster, you know, how many of them only blink with one eye… doesn’t that make it winking? Hehehe, I just made myself giggle… yeah, pretty slow right now. I have some really bad brain functionality… like just then, I nearly wrote – well did write, and corrected, thank you spell check – bran functionality. Yeah, see what I mean? I get sick and my typing skills resemble a tap-dancing spider who was just kicked in the head. So many errors! Bah! I can’t help it, either.

My poor fiancé will ask me a question, and I take about thirty seconds to reply because that is how long it took my brain to understand the man is speaking English to me… What the heck is with that? It’s kind of entertaining, in a way, because things that are just a tiny bit funny, suddenly become very funny! How good is that? Alright, it isn’t that good, but I am trying to find an up side. I am craving chocolate too, but I am not going anywhere to get it. I just had one of those protein bar things because it is covered in chocolate… It wasn’t very good.

Whilst I am home and sick, it gives me an opportunity to get some knitting done. All ensconced on the couch with my yarn. But I have been wondering what exactly to knit, lately. I am in the midst of a rather lovely felt purse, that I am knitting up some extra felting fabric to put a sparrow motif on the front, but apart from that. Oh and the acorns, but my fingers are too sensitive whilst I am sick for toy knitting, as it is really tight.

I have about 400 grams of rather bright purple mohair, and I have no idea what to do with it. Because, quite frankly, I’m not huge on the colour, and not overly partial to the fluff nature of the stuff. Now, I know I couldn’t knit it up and felt it, but I would feel bad for those who actually like this stuff, it’s pretty good yarn, you see. The lady who gave it to me is sick at the moment, and as she was originally going to make herself something out of it, I have considered making her something with it and giving it to her.

I actually found this shawl today, and I am thinking of making that up. I might even be able to make two with the yarn I have, one each! Anyway, I think I am off to sit back on the couch… I just have to print out that pattern…

When you are a young woman, and you are in a steady relationship, if you express the fact that you are nauseous to anyone, they immediately ask ‘You aren’t pregnant, are you?’ I always feel rather frustrated by this, as if it is expected of me to have unplanned pregnancies. I don’t know, I just find it irritating that everyone’s first assumption is that you are with child, rather than just have the flu.

Yesterday or the day before, I can’t remember now, I came down with something. I was so nauseous, I eventually lost my lunch, and have been going through the sneezing, coughing, asthma, and strangely enough, ringing ears. That’s a new one for me, well, in regards to having the flu, anyway. So I feel terrible, just awful. I got up in the morning today, and it seemed okay. I had breakfast, and about 20 minutes after I knew it was a very bad mistake. I have spent the larger portion of today, curled up on the couch in my dressing gown, holding my poor stomach, fighting to keep down lemonade and dry crackers. Yep, that’s what is has come to.

I am also dreadfully tired all the time, too lethargic to even sit up for long periods of time. I have to lay down regularly lest I feel utterly exhausted. As if that wasn’t enough, last night as I sat there on the couch, my girl cat ran across my lap. Nothing unusual there, but because I moved, she totally freaked out, and clawed my legs. Nothing really unusual there, either, but this time, she managed to slice one of her claws into a vein in my leg, and puncture the other side of the vein. So not only was my leg bleeding, but it was also bleeding into the tissue around it. Now I have red areas where she punctured my skin, and dark blue-black bruise like marks around the red ones. It truly looks horrible, and I am such a baby about that sort of thing. I had a similar incident happen when I had a blood test, once, and the resulting bleed out into the tissue nearly sent my into a panic. Of course, at that time, I didn’t know what it was.

Okay so before I fall asleep again, here’s today’s pattern. It had to be something soft and cozy to snuggle up in, so of course it is going to be a shawl or wrap of some kind. I am going with this one because it would be good for sitting around in, and because of the button you don’t have to keep it on you, it will just stay. Like a bed cape.

Off for naps now.
